A person who laced sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two children who were nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer camp which he operated.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.
The legal representative continued: "This year his family member had worries about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said Ruben went on to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Authorities" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.
The legal representative explained the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the authorities a second time.
She explained the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five children.
